Male pattern baldness affects millions of men all over the world.
It’s one of the most common forms of hair loss and many times it’s caused by both genetics and lifestyle choices.
MPB is typically characterized by the thinning and loss of hair around the crown and top of the head. Many gentlemen found that the sides and back of their hair remain fine, however, every case is different.
No matter where or when you lose your hair, it’s a tough situation. It can take a serious toll on your happiness and self-esteem but luckily there are ways to reverse male pattern baldness.
That’s why today I’ll be touching on effective methods for reversing your male pattern baldness and answering some frequently asked questions.
Is male pattern baldness reversible?
So, the first question on your mind is if your situation is reversible. The answer would be very possibly. Male pattern baldness isn’t always genetic and unstoppable, but many times due to lifestyle choices that you can begin changing today.
Can male pattern baldness reverse itself?
If you are genetically predisposed to male pattern baldness or you live a lifestyle that doesn’t create the environment for healthy hair, then no, your loss will not reverse itself.
The stories you hear of male pattern baldness reversal typically involve men making lifestyle choices and taking action to resolve their situation.
Remember, there are things you can do which I’ll be touching on today, but it requires you to take action on a consistent basis. Not much, either. A few minutes per day is all you need for most of the methods ahead.
How to reverse male pattern baldness
With that out of the way, let’s look at some natural ways to reverse male pattern baldness. Many of these you can do from the comfort of your home and involve little to no investment besides time.
1. Reverse male pattern baldness with diet
You are what you eat. How many times have you heard that saying? Despite if you’ve heard it hundreds of times, you probably don’t have the best diet.
It’s normal to grab fast food after work, a beer with your friends, and to snack on junk food throughout the day. Even if you don’t have a very poor diet, those little bad habits can compound and are horrible for your hair.
That’s why if you’re serious about reversing male pattern baldness, you need to start making small steps towards eating better foods every day.
I recommend starting by writing down all of the unhealthy foods you eat every day. This might be chocolate, candy, fast food, or fast food. Every time you go to eat one of these items, remind yourself of your goal to get your hair back and opt for a healthier alternative. Remember, those unhealthy foods are the easy way out. It will take discipline to reach for the veggies instead, but so worth it over time.
Next, start eating more fruits and vegetables every day. The vitamins and minerals found in these foods are amazing for bringing follicles back to life. Specifically, Biotin, vitamin A, vitamin C, vitamin E, and vitamin K are crucial for hair growth.
And I know. These aren’t the most appetizing when you compare them to something like a Big Mac, but you can make them much more delicious by adding them to meals. For example, veggies can be added to a stirfry, added on the side of meat, or mixed into a smoothie.
Another important component of reversing male pattern baldness with diet is protein. Protein is the building block of the body in general, not just muscle. Try to eat more fish, chicken, beef, and eggs for good sources of protein.
2. Try a scalp massage for male pattern baldness
Do you have a few minutes to spare every day? Then you need to try this method. Massaging the scalp makes it more elastic and flexible. And what happens when the skin is more elastic? Increased amounts of blood, oxygen, and nutrients to get around the follicles!
Massaging the scalp is simple as making circular motions with your fingers against the temple, hairline, top of the head, sides, and back. Doing this for five to ten minutes has been proven scientifically to stop hair loss.
I wrote a guide on how to do scalp massages properly, so make sure to read that, too.
3. Brushing the scalp and male pattern baldness
Another similar technique that I love is brushing your scalp. This works in the same way that massaging does in the sense that it stimulates the scalp and hair follicles. Doing so means blood and nutrients will get to the scalp to make hair healthier and for bringing dead follicles back to life.
But, you need a special brush. Most brushes aren’t coarse enough to stimulate the scalp like you need to with this method, so I suggest investing in a boar bristle brush or a similar one.
Spend a few minutes per day brushing the hairline, templates, crown, and other areas where you’re experiencing balding.
4. Destress and relax more often
Stress is one of the leading causes of hair loss. This is because it causes inflammation and heightens hormones like insulin and cortisol which aren’t good for hair.
Some times when you’re stressed you may also pull and play with your hair which can cause damage. Sound familiar?
Don’t worry. If you start working towards acknowledging what causes your stress, you can begin lowering it and improving your hair health as a result.
For most people, stress is caused by work, school, or certain people.
Can you make more time to pursue hobbies? Can you spend more time with friends? Adding these habits into your day can reduce stress.
I’d also suggest meditating every day. It’s a lifechanging habit that helps you achieve emotional balance and happiness. You can do so by:
- Sitting in a comfortable position on a floor, bed, or chair.
- Relaxing every part of the body limb by limb starting with your head.
- Focusing on the breath as it moves in and out of your body through the nose.
- Every time a thought or feeling arises, simply return your awareness back to the breath.
5. Get more exercise into your weekly schedule
Noticed how some of the previous methods for reversing male pattern baldness I’ve touched on involve getting the blood moving around our body?
It should be no surprise that the next advice I have for you is to exercise on a regular basis. You don’t have to be a health freak, by the way. I’m talking light to moderate exercise a few times per week. You can go beyond that, but start easy and build up.
One of the best ways to begin exercising is walking and jogging. This is because you only need shoes and you’re good to go! Map out a nice path to run and time yourself every time you go. Try to get a better time every time you go to continually achieve a new goal.
Similarly, swimming and cycling are fun ways to do cardio depending on the weather and where you live. I’d also suggest looking into hiking or rockclimbing because they’re very engaging and great for the body.
If you’re willing to invest in a gym membership, weightlifting is amazing for building muscle, strength, and getting your blood flowing. Paired with a healthy diet, you’ll transform your body and scalp 🙂
6. Stay hydrated every day
Your body is 70% water. So, it only makes sense to drink more water, right?
Despite most people knowing this, they still chug bac soda and other unhealthy drinks.
Take the liberty to drink more water every day to keep the cells of your body, including those that make up hair follicles, hydrated and healthy.
You can add lemon, cucumber, and other ingredients to water to make it tastier if needed. Furthermore, I’d suggest keeping a refillable bottle with you so drinking water is easier.
